OZONE Awards To Air This Weekend On MTV Jams

The Second Annual OZONE Awards will premiere on MTV Jams on Friday, August 31st at 8 PM EST. The show will also air repeatedly all day Saturday, September 1st and throughout the rest of Labor Day weekend. The OZONE Awards highlights the best in Southern music and beyond. The show will feature performances beginning with the first set featuring DJ Khaled's award winning ensemble of Lil Wayne & Baby, Rick Ross, T-Pain, Fat Joe, Trick Daddy, and Plies.
The show continues myriad of collaborations, surprise performances and comedy from host Lil’ Duval. Some of the evening’s prestigious awards were “Best Rap Artist Male/Female,” “Best Lyricist,” and “TJ’s DJ’s Hustler Award,” among many others. Other highlights of the show include performances by Young Jeezy & USDA, Foxx, Webbie, & Boosie, and newcomers Soulja Boy and Hurricane Chris. In addition, Bay Area artists Mistah FAB, Keak da Sneak, and Kafani represented for OZONE West Coast.
“As co-executive producer, I feel that we assembled a great roster of talent who equally represent the face of hip hop from the South. The performances were a well balanced range of artists from different cities and the winners contributed to the rise in popularity of Southern hip hop,” says TJ Chapman, CEO of TJ’s DJ’s. OZONE Magazine CEO, Julia Beverly adds, “The award show exemplifies the primary goal of the magazine – to shed light on Southern artist who are mainstream or on the verge of a breakthrough in the music industry. We’ve been using OZONE Magazine to give exposure to Southern artists, however, we’re taking that exposure to the next level by acknowledging their success in an award show."
Viewers may check their local listings for show times and channels to watch who won in each category.
