Sav Killz - Success Is Inevitable
Is success inevitable? Countless MCs are facing that question these days. I can say with smart hard work success is inevitable. How many MCs put in smart hard work? Key word being SMART. The first time I heard of Sav Killz was on a J Ronin mixtape. Then a cat I know and respect saw him live about 6 months ago and said dude did his 1,2 thing type proper..."he stood out" were the exact words. I mean that right there falls under "smart" in my opinion. The fans, the people who actually support you, need to see you live; they need that CD in the palm of their hands too. You'll see J Ronin and Sav Killz on the net more because it's a compliment to the "smart" hard work they've already put in on the street. It's that balance in both that make success inevitable these days.
I fuck with "Coming To Kill". It's been playing on Rapmullet's home page for a minute but I was really checking out the "freestyles" to see what Sav can do with no song constraints. "It's A Showdown" is exactly what I was looking for...slick word play and straightforward bars. "Industry Bullshit" too. "This is victory sound the trumpet / bang triumphant / bump it in your system cruise the blocks why you stuntin". Sav gives you that raw emotion on "I Shall Remain". Those are the words of a determined MC people. The "Stacks" remix with Planet Asia got that knock. You can picture these cats in a cipher just going in. I like what I hear from Spit Supreme on "Hoodlums". That flow is lethal and he got a smooth ass flow. As far as the collaborations go. "Got To Find A Way" is that two techniques plugged into the light shit. Sav got an ill vocab too. Peep "Anger" and you'll see what I'm talking about.
This is great showcase for Sav Killz. You get to see a bunch of different dimensions of his MIC skills. The content is well balanced too. He keeps it on some real ni99a shit but there's always a purpose to the bars and sometimes a message; he's keeping you thinking for sure. If it's one thing I think he could work on it might be the flow. He's got a unique style so it's not really an issue but he catches patches of bars where the shit is mad fluid and the words are like floating in the ocean. Other time it gets choppy, which in my opinion is due to the too many compound verbs, look it up if you don't know that is. Many MCs fall victim to the compound verb trying to say to much when shit can be straight to the point. If you aren't already checking for dude, you need to be...his success is inevitable.

DJ Diggz & DJ Rated R - Potent Product 12
Cats are a dozen deep in this mutha fucka. That means it's Potent Product 12 people. What the fuck you want me to say that I haven't said already? If you do not listen to Diggz and Rated R on the Potent Product mixtapes then you're either a big homo or a douche bag...or both. What do cats listen to when there on the block getting coup money in couple days? A Potent Product mixtape.
"I'm in a class with a few / like a sped-ed kid eating glue." Banks is a funny cat...bars for days on "Top 5". It wouldn't be Potent Product without Ransom. "Getting Worse" got mad jewels throughout, Ransom is like a lyrical life coach for the corner boys pitching that "D". Did he say "I'm athletic / I can flip in a drought", on "Motivation? Oh shit. So I have to give Wayne credit for his verse on "Don't Touch Me", the shit was proper...I can't front. I actual like "Hole In a Ni99a". Murda did his thing and so did French Montana...that cat got some shit. Unpacino stay with the mono tone flow, but that's his style. Not only that he came off on "Street Bosses"...some classic mixtape flip music. H. Brando sound like he gonna snatch you up through the speaker too. Ar-Ab got that ill voice and the word play to match on "Philly Wildstyle". I always look for new Mazaradi Fox. "G Unit Til I Die" is that slow flow but I still fuck with it. Remo doing what he do on "Fame". Always a message in there whether you want it or not. Kochece shinning on "In Da Hood". The bars are sharper than ever, I can dig it. On the wackness side of things, Lil Eto need to put the MIC down already, damn was that a flow or a tourret fit.
You know whats funny is it would take like four or five Whiteowl mixtapes to equal one Potent Product mixtape. The cover says it all and the music on the mixtape will be making the block hot all month. I don't know what you're about to do but I'm tearing this dutch, rolling up and starting shit from the top...tippy.

Sha Stimuli - The Secret
If you are a true mixtape head then you know the name Stimuli. The Brooklyn MC has been on too many mixtapes to name. What he's doing now is droppin "concept" mixtapes every month. Shout to DJ Victorious for sending me the previous joints. I was gonna try to wrap all these into one review but there's too much music for that. The first joint I peeped was "The Wire" with all joints inspired by the TV show. "Don't Come Out Side" with Cashmere is the stand out track off that project. Then the next one was "Love Jones". If you can't tell by the title it was a little something for the ladies but really it's that MIC versatility...peep "Up and Down" to hear what I mean. The next one was March On Washington and the political bars were flying like no other MC has done during this election year. Check out "Black President" with Skyzoo and you'll know what it is. Now were onto "The Secret".
That was a hell of an intro by Pain In Da Ass on "Time Is Now". I felt like I was about to hear some crazy shit. MCs rarely do "live" versions on mixtapes for the simple fact cats don't do shows! Get your live performance game up you bitches. lol "S.T.I Live" is acapella too breaking down the alphabet with precision. "Deal With Me" got that bounce and the word play to match. "I been through the flame and came back / laugh, cry, lie, told the truth on the same track." My favorite shit on here tho is "Live Like I'm Dying". Ahhh man, talk about an MC who knows who they are. If it's only one track you peep off this whole mixtape let this be it then rewind that shit. A close second is "Bentley" with Torae. I love that sample and dude flipped it a lil differently too. Bar wise the car analogies were flowing like water. "Left Lane" is just flat out ill. Dude is giving ya'll djs so much mixtape music and ya'll sleeping waiting for some Wayne or G Unit to leak when the real shit is right here. Plus if you haven't heard the OJ Loopz produced "We Can Make It" by now you are a lost cause. If this track doesn't motivate I don't know what can.
If you fuck with insightful, witty, strong bars you need to listen to this project and the others that dropped so far too from Stimuli. I hope he can keep it up throughout the year cause this is hip hop's heart right now. Cats worried about ring tones, and singles and labels and blah blah blah while S.T.I is worrying about flat out good music.
