Since a whole lot of eyes are looking in this direction, who better to speak on it than me. An up and coming artist from the other side of the Atlantic. I understand that listeners stateside seldom care about what you rep if you not from the US, everything outside of that is often seen as "just" European. At least that's what I thought.
Ever Since Perez Hilton put me up on his blog my Myspace page, Facebook profile and YouTube videos have been flooded with comments about how people can't believe that I live in Sweden, how I should tour the US asap and questions about were they can purchase my music. Since we haven't landed a distribution deal overseas yet I tell em that those plans will have to wait.
I just recently started touring Sweden after the success of my Grammis (A Grammis is the equivalent to a US Grammy) winning debut album "It's A Tensta Thing", so for me to even have conversations with people who wanna see me outside of my country all seem strange to me. I guess there are more people than Kanye that look for alternatives. I ain't knocking nobody cause of what they do but maybe people are getting tired of the same shit that's been played on the TV and radio these last couple of years. I believe the success of Kanye's collaboration with Daft Punk really puts things into perspective, everybody should know just how influential the European music scene is by now.
Hip Hop has been playing in my stereo since 93, but it really hasn't been as interesting as it is right now. People are mashing up different genres and the taboo of "cross overs" is slowly fading. Up and coming artists can be found with the click of a button and I guess that's how my shit made it overseas. For those who haven't been on my Myspace page, make sure you check it out to get to see/listen what I'm talking about.
Till next time. Take care and have a fabolous time!
Yours truly.
